Steam Shower

The shower is one of the most comfortable and pleasant experiences that is encountered on a habitual basis. Why do humans love water and showering so much? Is it the ancient memory of living in shallow coastal waters and deep sea memories from a time long past? Maybe it is societies strict imposition of no or pleasant odors. An oppressive smell is sure to keep people at a safe distance, but humans crave attention and there is nothing like spongy clean skin and lustrous, untangled and full hair to attract that attention.

While most people shower every day, one of the best ways to improve skin quality is with a stream shower. The hot, vaporous H2O exfoliates every microscopic pore in the body which cleans oil and other grime from the entire body, not just the face. Though steam showers are much less common than a regular shower, which is found in every home in America, they are common in spas, larger gyms and country clubs, and are popping up in private homes more and more often.

The most important factor when installing a hot vapor system into a shower is preparation. The entire walls, floor, ceiling and door have to be completely sealed and waterproof. This requires a polyurethane liner covering all frame work, wood and every possible escape hole in the shower. Any steam that is allowed to escape can cause a lot of damage to the plaster, drywall, and wood that homes are built with.

The worst part about this is that the damage is often hidden within the wall and only reveals itself when it's too late and major repairs are needed. Do yourself a favor and make sure that thing is sealed tight including the door. This will not only reduce future repair and maintenance costs but keeps the shower hotter and more efficient, something everyone can appreciate. A leaky steam shower cannot get to the high heats that are expected and desired for the best and most enjoyable effect.

If you are considering adding a home steam shower you are not alone. There are a number of smaller steam units specially designed for the smaller spaces associated with home steam rooms. They are relatively easy and simple to install, requiring only minimal electrical and construction knowledge. Make sure everything is sealed before trying it out though, including the steam shower doors which should fit as snug as a fridge door fits onto a fridge.

A quality vapor room can be a great do it yourself project which can cost less than thousand dollars or they can be complete custom jobs running into the tens of thousands of dollars. They are not for every budget, but they are by no means unobtainable and with a little bit of hard work and ingenuity they are quite rewarding. Once they are built correctly they are incredibly enjoyable and easy to maintain. They improve skin health as well as breathing problems and sore throats. Enjoy!
