Everyone deserves a chance to relax and unwind from a long day at work or an excruciating training session at the gym. Even ancient Roman royalty used to sit or stand in confined spaces with steam to induce it's healing powers. Luxury steam showers does the same thing but in the most luxurious way possible, using modern conveniences to make a stress-free life possible through affordable yet indulgent showering units.

What is the most important part of installing a steam shower?

The most important part of installing a steam shower is making sure the area where the steam will be contain is completely sealed and water and vapor-proof. Vapor will easily penetrate into the smallest gap and escape into areas that are difficult to get water out of. This can easily destroy plaster and drywall and can eventually cause much larger problems with rotting wood. Also make sure the door is tight and sealed as well for the best and most energy efficient experience.

Should I get a shower water filter?

1st get purified water to drink, not just tap water because of the fluorination, before even considering purifying your shower water. You have to have priorities, and that tap water could be pretty bad.

There is not much of a debate about shower filters, they do a good job at what they do, which is mostly removing chlorine and heavy metals. If you don’t have a filter it is easy to see how much build up and crust sticks to the walls and fixtures of the bathroom in a short period of time. That same stuff sticks to your skin too, but that’s not even the worst part.

The heat from the shower can vaporize chlorine. This poisonous gas can then be breathed by the bather causing a wide variety of symptoms and lung damage. It is best to remove this completely so be sure t find a filter that removes as much as possible if not all of it.

What is mycobacterium avium and why is it in my shower?

A generic study of common household appliances discovered an abundance of Mycobacterium avium, mostly concentrated in shower heads. M.Avium can cause a number of problems to those with pre-existing conditions such as AIDs, cystic fibrosis, and anyone with a weakened immune system. It is a type of bacteria.

It is impossible to clean out once it exists in the shower head and it quickly forms once installed making it almost impossible to avoid as well. This doesn’t mean you need to go and replace all your shower heads just yet. If you are in good health M.Avium won’t have any effect on you and it cannot be caught from someone else of passed on. Regular replacement of the head is recommended, but the timeframe is unclear.

The best thing to do is simply turn the water on before entering the shower as the first burst may have the most contaminants in it, or take a bath. A bath is less likely to vaporize the bacterium allowing it to be breathed in.
